BRIAN "BK" KENT : TENOR SAXOPHONE

Tenor Saxophonist Brian Kent has studied saxophone since he was eight. He grew up in a musical family and was heavily influenced by his father, an exceptional jazz drummer in his own right, who exposed him to such musical greats as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Stan Getz and Bill Evans. These early influences instilled a deep and permanent love for jazz that has shaped Mr. Kent's musical career and personality. Mr. Kent attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in jazz performance. He giggled locally in Boston and led his own quartet before moving to Seattle in 1988, where he began performing and recording with local talent. Since then he has gained a reputation as one of Seattle's premiere saxophone players and instructors. He has performed with Jay Clayton, Stuart Dempster, Buddy Catlett, Denny Goodhew and Joe McPhee and has recorded with Chuck Metcalf, Little Bill and the Blue Notes, Barney McClure, Larry Jones, Wayne Horvitz, Michael Bisid, Hans Teuber and Edmonia Jarret, to name a few.
